Chapter 21..

DAY 121

“Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
– Lewis Carroll

“The body needs to move, while the mind needs to stop and think.”

I turned 21 today! Some of my birthdays stick out as memorable ones, and this will definitely be one of them. Not for some of the more typical reasons why 21st birthdays are remembered, but because of the sheer kindness, thoughtfulness, love, and friendship I’ve felt not only today, but reaching back into the last week or so. I think this is one of the reasons why I do love birthdays so much – reconnecting with friends and family. Seeing that you are loved and cared for. I find myself wondering if I’d be missed sometimes, and days like this help me realize that people remember me. They care for me, and love me and want to spend time with me. I’ve tried to thank and speak with everyone who reached out today, but just in case I missed anyone – Thank You and I Love You!

Here are some of the highlights! Last night, I came home from H’s house to find the Happy Birthday banner hung in front of my doorway. I then discovered my awesome little light-up “It’s My Birthday” badge. This morning, I woke up, got ready, hopped in my car to go to M’s house and was shocked to see 2 cards and a plaque that read “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere” in the passenger’s seat! I snapped a quick picture, read the cards, and headed to Starbucks. : ) M greeted me with the cutest rendition of “Happy Birthday” and a big hug when I arrived. There was even a note for me on the chalkboard! Mom stopped by for lunch, bearing gifts (thank you mommy!), which M couldn’t wait to try on – new shoes and the top to one of the boxes. N stopped by shortly after with M. I was so excited to see them! M was my birthday gift unwrapper! (N you are too sweet!) I came home to find cards from a few relatives, not to mention a huge number of Facebook notifications (thank you FB family!). I was off to school, greeted with even more unexpected birthday well-wishes! It wasn’t the fact that I received things – for me, it’s knowing that someone thought to take time out of their day to do something special for someone else, who just happened to be me. The conversations, visits, moments, everything made today a great and very memorable day. Again, Thank You!

I am thankful for: making it to 21 and being such a lucky girl to have an amazing group of people in my life.

On A Sunny Sunday..

DAY 120

I finally spent time with the bro today! I think we’ve both been trying to for a while. We went to church at The Summit with M this morning. It was a different kind of service – Q&A session, which I thought was brilliant! I always enjoy my time there.

After that, we headed to Nosh – apparently my new favorite place – for brunch & a game of Scrabble. The food was amazing, as usual!

I was able to catch a bit of Jasmine Star‘s Creative Live session this weekend! I LOVE her. She is so humble, candid, helpful, genuine..I could go on forever. And I haven’t even met the woman. She has such a way of capturing your attention and bringing you into the moment. Making you feel as if you are her best friend, just having a normal, causal chat. Sweet! I’ll be your bestie!

The grand finale of my day was hanging out with H and getting to chat with his parents. I love them.

Special mentions from today: I’d like to give a warm welcome to my new toy – a curling iron! Despite our, um, eventful morning (multiple burn marks), I think we could be great friends! Also, I rode in my brother’s “Stang” for the first time today. I had fun! Black Beauty, I think we could also be friends!

I am thankful for: great days made of great times and conversations had with wonderful people!

Peanut butter + Banana = my new obsession

From The Pages..

DAY 119

A day full of errand-running, reading, and hanging out with M!

The pictures are random – some from yesterday (courtesy of M & her blog –, a couple from a magazine, & one of Moonlight.

I am thankful for: random happy moments.

M titled it "Britt Behind Bars" ..too funny!

"So about that leaving can't do it again."

Smile Out Loud..

DAY 118

A day complete with a study session, play time, errand-running, girl’s dinner date, an afternoon breeze, picture time, & a movie night! I had the pleasure of seeing many people I love, speaking with those I didn’t run in to, & meeting new peoples. I believe I’ve exhausted every viable second of the day! M & I went to dinner at Mellow Mushroom, walked around the American Tobacco District, explored a few new places, captured moments, and, of course, the outfits (M loves those!). We even spotted an engagement shoot taking place! And the movie? Tuck Everlasting.

I am thankful for: making people smile as they pass by and witness silly, random pictures being captured.

Shock & Aww..

DAY 117

“It is in all of us to defy expectations, to go into the world and to be brave, and to want, to need, to hunger for adventures to embrace change and chance and risk so that we may breathe and know what it is to be free.”

“voyage upon life’s sea
to yourself be true
and whatever your lot may be
paddle your own canoe”
-sarah bolton
Simply an amazing day! Lots of smiles. Few moments of shallow breathing. Being in shock – good shock, I guarantee! Thursdays are always so good to me. I also just watched a new show – The Conversation. It’s presented by Lifetime, which I usually avoid, but I was intrigued by the previews. I’m glad I watched. I think it’s great to see well-known women talking about common issues. They are people too! Hopefully the show will live up to its namesake and inspire conversations all around! I feel it will.
The pictures for the day include: a moment captured of Moonlight & Jac learning to love each other, and an awesome new friend of mine thanks to someone very special!
I am thankful for: moments of shock & aww (that isn’t a typo, don’t worry).

Colorful Moments..

DAY 116

“We are all part of something bigger, and we are all part of it together.”
– Post Secret

The sunrise this morning – gorgeous. The sky literally could have been split into 4 sections: sunrise, dark & overcast, brilliant blue sky with clouds, & a rainbow!

The sunset was equally as astounding! Luckily, I was out of class in time to watch it play out across the sky on my way home. My car and I have been privy to some lovely moments in nature.

I was driving and, therefore, unable to capture both of these moments. The experience and opportunity to watch them was enough for me! But I love when I’m able to share. I, instead, created another colorful photo – Brads collected in a fused glass dish I made last year.

I am thankful for: the gorgeous sunrises & sunsets I’m able to watch.

Food, Friends, & Fun..

DAY 115

..And on a Tuesday.

It was B&B time today! B (the other one) was introduced to Nosh and their Portobello burger with sweet potato fries – yum! Time was spent at Southpoint and also at Sweet Frog for fro-yo! Even a photo-op with The Hunger Games poster at the theater! Note to self: make more goofy faces for pictures!

We practiced a few Qi Gong moves in class tonight! It was interesting to learn how the artistic exercise form came about. I also learned that pineapple is good to eat when you’re having a headache.

I am thankful for: best friend time.
