Will Break For Photos..

DAY 152

All of today’s pics were taken during break today. We watched another video on reflexology & made outlines of our feet – wouldn’t recommend trying that at home kids.

I’m off to enjoy the rain that just started. Don’t forget to watch The Conversation if you have a chance tonight at 11 – Lifetime.

I am thankful for: my camera, Baby!

Stretchy Pants..

DAY 151

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
– Mahatma Gandhi

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”
– Goethe

“It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.”
– Agnes Repplier

“There was no pretension here, no elaborate plans designed to impress the other.”
– The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks

“Look deep into nature, and you will understand everything better.”
– Albert Einstein

Sadly, the title “Stretchy Pants” was not inspired by a motivational, thought provoking quote. It was more like the theme song of today, since I wore a pair of yoga pants. M thought it was hilarious when I unintentionally ”popped” my pant leg. It was a done deal after that. “I have stretchy pants!” “Brittany do stretchy pants.” (I can make anything in to a catchy melody, and that is just what happened.)

An dreary rainy day turned into a gorgeous afternoon, but fun was had all day! I felt the effects of last night’s yoga class early this morning and then added to that a squat challenge that I’ve tried to do everyday.

For those of you who watch How I Met Your Mother, you’ll be able to appreciate one pic in particular from today. It’s going to be legen-(wait for it)…

I also managed to snag one of the sunset! The sun was a gorgeous pink glowing ball of beauty. And the final picture is an affirmation card I received from a classmate last night. She gave one to every student – very sweet! And they seemed to fit everyone well.

I am thankful for: gorgeous sunsets.

Soul Meets Body..

DAY 150

“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”
– Albert Einstein

“The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.”
– Elbert Hubbard

“The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work.”
– Emile Zola

‘Twas an overcast day, but fun was had! Especially in class tonight. We had the opportunity to have our program director (also a trained yoga instructor) come & lead us through a yoga routine. It was great! I took my fancy (not really) blue & green yoga mat and had the chance to wear my new yoga pants! We went through all types of poses & even had time to fit in my favorite meditation ever! Brace yourselves for the not-so-great description I’ve prepared. Ready? Ok. (I feel like I need a cheer & pom poms now!) Throughout the meditation, Mrs. H has the class tense up different muscle groups & breathe out the tension. Might sound a little nutty, but it works wonders.

This song was playing on the way home & seemed fitting for this post. It used to play in-store when I worked at Starbucks. I miss that store. Had some good times & met some amazing people. I think that experience & store served a great purpose in my life. Enjoy!

I am thankful for: yoga.

I finally saw the bunny living in our yard today! And he let me get pretty close.

Memorial Day – a day to honor those who have, are, and will serve in the military. These men & women are true heroes. Thank you to you all!

I spent the holiday running errands & laughing. A lot. Mainly just in the last hour or so. Mom & I went over to our neighbor’s house to hang out. I’ve found another roadtrip & rollercoaster buddy! My Dutch neighbor, A. She is unbelievably funny and very sweet. Her computer is having some problems, so another neighbor was over working on the issues. She started talking about “finding the cookies” to help the computer run better. (which works as a nice way for me to segue into saying..) I found a Cookie Monster decal today! It totally made my day.

And now I hear fireworks off in the distance!!

I am thankful for: time to reflect on what is truly important & means the most.

DAY 148

“This world is but a canvas to our imagination.”
– Henry David Thoreau

“Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”
– Albert Einstein

“A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night, and in between does what he wants to do.”
– Bob Dylan

Button(s) + Butterfly = Buttonfly : )

Pictures are of a dress I got this weekend.

I hope everyone enjoys the holiday tomorrow.

A huge THANK YOU to all the service members – past, present, & future! You all are truly heroes.

I am thankful for: those who are willing to make sacrifices.

We’re Off To See The Lizard..

DAY 147

Well, M & I actually planned to (after a morning full of errands for both parties), go to Jordan Lake and swim! What ended up happening was more of an unplanned touring adventure of the area around Jordan Lake – complete with photo opps (and maybe getting a back tire stuck in the mud), a visit to Lake Crabtree, dinner pick up at Qdoba, & cupcakes from Gigi’s! Then we watched The Help. I seriously love that movie even more every time I see it.

Story behind the title – M & I were walking back to the car from taking pictures on the side of the road (the swamp-looking area), when we encountered a little lizard. And of course began singing “We’re Off to See the Lizard” to the tune of “We’re Off to See the Wizard” from Wizard of Oz. I proceeded to look like a crazed mall-walker as I repeated the phrase quietly to myself and speed-walked back to the car. I can now say, Mission Accomplished!

Please see below for documentation of a great day spent in the Raleigh-Durham area. : )

As a personal aside – I now know what the “13.1” and “26.2” car decals signify! Thanks M!

I am thankful for: cupcakes. And stars.

DAY 146

“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”
– Albert Einstein

“Where the willingness is great, the difficulties cannot be great.”
– Machiavelli

“Until you make peace with who you are, you’ll never be content with what you have.”
– Doris Mortman

Hilarious ETrade commercial I just saw.. Love these talking babies!

The better part of my day was spent shopping. Mom and I went to Southpoint this morning. Shopped a bit and had lunch. When we were leaving, we saw this awesome old car! I was in the passenger’s seat & thus able to get a picture of it!

I went off on my own for the afternoon making a stop at DSW and Kohl’s. I ran into my former German teacher – so good to catch up with her!

There was just enough sunlight still beaming into the yard to get a few good pictures of the flowers.

I am thankful for: sunshine & discounts.

PS: Found many more funny things worth sharing! Enjoy!
