DAY 187

“You can’t help anyone until you help yourself first.” – Tara Stiles

“The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night’s sleep.” – E. Joseph Cossman

Yoga in the morning. And an afternoon jog. I love exercising!

In between, there was errand running, picture taking, & good conversations.

Thursday Funnies included:

* A guy wearing a “I ❤ my GF” – The adult version of the kiddie leashes perhaps?

* The word “blavatar” – Meaning? The avatar image used for my blog. [Side note: I changed mine & I can fly now!]

* “Why does she want him to call her Maybe? Carly is a lovely name.” – Adam Levine

Thursday Seriousness included:

* Have a look-see at these photos which break down the moves of gymnasts.

* And now check out the formation of a face in the womb.

* OMG! I have hit a photog gold mine! Photojojo is a site featuring all sorts of photography goodies! (there are even Polaroid cameras on here people!!)

* The nerd in me loves this next each state got its name!

And with is the story behind the photos – I took Jac with me on my jog this afternoon (with walking, water, & potty breaks – for one of us) & documented below are his feelings about the event. He’s such a trooper!

I am thankful for: running shoes, watches, yoga mats, & youtube videos.

I Like To Move It, Move It..

DAY 182

“Good instincts tell you what to do long before your head has figured it out.” – Michael Burke

One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation. – Arthur Ashe

“The master observes the world but trusts his inner vision.” – Lao-tzu

“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill

So much heat! Luckily, I was up early & volunteering as a massage guinea pig. Oh how I love my career path! Since then, I’ve been staring at a computer screen most of the day. Memory on my laptop (and – this just in – on my blog too – eep!) have been running severely low limits. I’ve been moving files all day (hence the title) to make more room. I’m not sure what to do about my blog yet, so I’ve had to delete some very early photos. I’ve got them saved though, so not to worry!

I am thankful for: external hard drives.

Namaste & Nails..

DAY 10

I had the house to myself for a little bit this afternoon ..yay! So I did yoga, discovered Zumba videos on YouTube, & hung artwork around the massage studio. A day I thought may be a bit stressful was actually very fun & I was quite the productive one!

So the yoga pictures.. I’ve been wanting to take pictures of my yoga mat for a while. Because it’s cool. The actual time I spent doing yoga was interesting – my dog, Jac, thought that the aforementioned mat of awesomeness signaled play time (AKA: let’s chase Brittany’s foot & jump up on her back). I think the push-the-dog-out-of-your-personal-space tactics I put to use made my workout that much more effective. Thanks, Jac!!

The remaining pictures are of the artwork I have displayed on the walls in my massage studio. I am pretty particular when it comes to designing a space (note to self: seek out an additional career path as an interior designer). It’s taken 4 years (WOW! I just did that calculation) for me to weed out pieces from my art collection and decide which pieces I’d like to display on the walls. True story. The largest piece is from my brother. It’s a green sepia toned photo of the Blue Ridge Mountains (I can’t recall the photographer’s name). I also secured my recent art project – “Just Breathe” using paint chips, my Sharpie art work from quite a few years ago – a heart made of a base & treble clef, & a poster I picked up some time ago of the Eiffel Tower.

I am thankful for: self expression.

Baby Visits Straw Valley Cafe

Alrighty, for those of you who follow my blog regularly, you are aware of my recent dilemma – naming my lovely Canon EOS Rebel T2i. As of this past Sunday, she has a name. Ladies & gents, allow me to now proudly present, Baby!

Ok, ok..I know you’re all dying to know how she was named (and I don’t really blame you!). Here’s the story.. I went to Straw Valley Cafe over the weekend (actually a couple times, but this story is referencing my Sunday visit) with a friend of mine, L. She is an intern with Big Star Studios, a photography team based in Mebane, NC. We’ve been talking about getting together for months to go photograph around some place local. We finally did! When L saw my camera, her response was that my camera was a baby (<sound familiar : ) ) compared to hers. And thus, I named my camera “Baby”.

I took more photos on this day than I think I ever have, which is surprising considering the fact that I spent something like 2 hours on a photo shoot with one of my best friends. In any case, I have narrowed the 210 pictures down and due to my hyperactive organizational gene (mom, I blame you) have broken the ones I like into a few groups. I’m going to post the “Photographers” & “Red” groups tonight.

First up, the “Photographers” group. You guessed it..these pictures are some that I captured of L and myself. I think I have a bit of an obsession now with pictures of reflections in windows.. : )

The second group I’m calling “Red” simply because that is the common factor in all the photos. L was pretty stoked about the red chairs, and after a few shots, I was too!

I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. : ) If you are local (Durham, NC) and have some time to spare this Saturday, October 29, the cafe will be hosting a Halloween Party from 7-11pm. It is definitely worth checking out!
