Hold Me & Dance..

DAY 254

9.10

“The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.” – Jimmy Johnson

“If you’re doing your best, you won’t have any time to worry about failure.” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

“Where there is love, there is life.” – Ghandi

“The purpose of life is a life of purpose.” – Robert Byrne

When a 2 year-old looks at you and says, “Brittany, hold me and dance!” your heart is bound to melt a little. Today was another great Monday with the tiny human. Lots of this new game I invented which involves running from the front of the house to the back of the house. Oh, and sometimes the small person will ask you to hold their hand whilst running – that’s difficult, friends.

I introduced him to the song “The Loco-Motion”. I can still remember the first time hearing that song as a kid. It was on a kid’s video about trains and all the kids were doing this little dance like they were the wheels of the train. Haha! Oh the things I recall.

After hanging with M during the day, I booked it over to school for a little reading time pre-class. I ended up being the nap monitor for a classmate and my teacher. Call me crazy, but I kind of think it’s like the best thing ever that our “desks” are actually massage tables and that the scenario of me being a nap lookout is like the coolest!

I am thankful for: the invention of the phone.

Being able to admit fault is an underrated leadership quality. It doesn’t make you weak or indecisive. It makes you HUMAN. – Adam Levine

“It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” – Harry S Truman

Rainy days call for crafty ideas. Today’s was a rocketship! M loved it! It seemed to be the biggest hit of the day.

Class was excellent! We were given a “recipe book” of sorts for blending essential oils. So excited to crack into that baby!

I am thankful for: teachers who put in extra effort. Huge thank you!!

What’s With The Yo, Yo?..

DAY 233

“Most of us are just about as happy as we make up our minds to be.” – Abraham Lincoln

“The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.” — Oscar Wilde

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.” – William James

“Vitality shows not only in the ability to persist, but in the ability to start over.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

“Be what you are. This is the first step toward becoming better than you are.” – August W. Hare

In case I’ve failed to mention it in the past 232 posts, I watch tiny humans (more commonly known as children) for a “job”. Believe me when I say I use the airquotes when asked what my job is. I don’t feel one bit like I’m working when I hangout with any of my peeps. I’ve basically given myself the opportunity to constantly play, act silly, and be a goofball. Oh, also repeat myself with synonymous words. It’s cool, just roll with it. So today, I was presented with this yo-yo that had no string, but lit up – it was strange and hilarious to me. [Insert my quote, which has become the title for the post here.] I hope that’s given you some sense of better understanding.

Also today, the tiny humans couldn’t find me while playing Hide-&-Seek. How two boys cannot find a 5’6″ babysitter in their own house had me in stitches today! They’d look in two places, call it quits, and wait it out until I’d walk out of some hallway and scream, “Where were you?! We looked everywhere.” Ha! (Babysitters, parents, grandparents, general public – great game to play!)

This evening in class we learned about Rosemary in aromatherapy. We even discovered there is a rosemary plant growing outside the school! You know what that means – field trip! All the way down the hall and out the door. I’ll quite obviously take any field trips I can get!

My shirt from ThisShirtHelps arrived today!! I have tried it on, but will take and post a picture of it after I’ve washed it. I love this organization. I hope you’ll check them out!

I am thankful for: Rosemary, which is for remembering.

Flockin’ Together..

DAY 230

“I am here to live out loud” – Emile Zola

“If your ship doesn’t come in, swim out to it.” – Jonathan Winters

“The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make a mistake.” – Elbert Hubbard

“Your attitude is more important that your aptitude.” – Zig Ziglar

“Our intention creates our reality.” – Wayne Dyer

A day that started out not so great, turned out to be wonderful! I met some of the sweetest and funniest people in clinic today! I also found out I’m booked out a few weeks already, which is super encouraging for me as a budding massage therapist. I couldn’t be more happy with this feeling that I’ve chosen the absolute best path for my life.

The picture is of part of a new dress I got. It has birdies!!

I am thankful for: the opportunity to re-type words (took me like 8 tries to type “for”).

Squat Like A Chicken..

DAY 224

“There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.” ~ Ansel Adams

“I’ve experienced many terrible things in my life, a few of which actually happened.” – Mark Twain

Another clinic day! I had great experiences that I can now add to my massage learning process. Met some great people, including one Cynthia Loving from Loving Scents! My teacher has talked about her for the longest time and it was a pleasure to finally meet her! And of course buy things! I think my neatest purchase was that of a necklace made in Taiwan by disabled women. It is gorgeous! Just look at the picture!

Also today, I finally listened to all of Alex Clare’s album – LOVE!!! Thanks, M!

Oh, so the title..I was describing my day to my mom and said something along the lines of “Yeah, I spent the whole day squatting like a chicken. But chickens don’t squat, do they?”

I am thankful for: aromatherapy.

B.

Excellently Fabulous..

DAY 210

The only way to learn it is to do it. –Archimedes (The Sword in the Stone)

“One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man.” – Elbert Hubbard

“When we seek to discover the best in others, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves.” – William Arthur Ward

An amazing day, truly. I had some of the sweetest people in clinic today! I was blessed with a gorgeous drive to & away from the spa – sunrise there, puffy cotton ball clouds with a blue sky back drop. It really is the simple things that make me most happy.

Have a great weekend!

I am thankful for: smiles. clouds. my adorbs new planner!!

First day of clinic = successful!

It’s been a rather eventful day. Full being the operative part of that word!

Happy Saturday everyone!

I am thankful for: washers & dryers.

Snip, Snipping Away..

DAY 201

Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.
Pablo Picasso

“Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want.” – Jim Rohn

“Pursue meaningful adventures.” – Chris Guillebeau

World, I am now thoroughly convinced I could use an iPhone. For serious. I am in love with the new apps I’ve purchased and been using (Evernote & 30/30) & would kill for the portability of the iPhone (versus my iPad). If there have been any take-away lessons from this week they are that: I need an empty drawer & other spaces for possibility, and I would love an iPhone!

I finally took the big leap! I purchased my first CreativeLive course! Tamara Lackey’s Work.Life.Balance. workshop from yesterday! I was only able to catch a tiny snipit of what was filmed & have found every ounce of useful tips I was able to scurry away with priceless. Truly. I used the applications on the iPad that she suggested, have researched the sites she said she made use of, & even purged 4 drawers of clothing at about 10:30pm. Suuper excited about it!

In class tonight (You know, the place I’ve been physically showing up at to learn. Places other than social media and creative live.), we began learning about pregnancy massage. Yet another thing I’m totally looking forward to!

I feel like I’m finally realizing just how much I love the Dr. Seuss book Oh, The Places You’ll Go. I cannot tell you what it means to me. I really think I’m going to be buying a copy of it for myself soon. Such an inspirational and fun piece to help bring you back to you. Realize that you are enough. Help you follow your dreams. And let you know that some not-so-great things will happen along the way, but that is ok.

I am thankful for: social media & CreativeLive.

B.

Maybe Means There’s A Chance..

DAY 200

“You must find the place inside yourself where nothing is impossible.” – Deepak Chopra

today’s challenge: find the ease. whether the day is simple, or trying, find the ease and watch your world open up! – Tara Stiles

My total obsession today (once I was home) was the creative live course hosted by Tamara Lackey. This woman is a genius! I kid you not. I only watched like 20 minutes total of the course and I already have 3 new apps and know how to better use at least 3 of them!

A couple of my new favs:

Evernote – manages like everything!

30/30 – manages your time spent on tasks

Also, I learned I need more open spaces in my physical living space as it promotes the “possibilities” in my life! Crazy cool concept, right?!

Before I launched (and nearly lost myself, in a good way) in Tamara’s workshop, I spent the day with J&R. We ventured out to the library & the Museum of Life & Science! At least for a few hours before it started thundering. We had a blast! I think they especially enjoyed the mist area of Catch the Wind.

I am thankful for: mist areas and fountains on hot days!
