You May Say I’m A Dreamer..

DAY 225

“The greatest thing in the world is to know how to be one’s own self.” – Montaigne

“The quality, not the longevity, of one’s life is what is important.” – Martin Luther King

“It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.” – Seneca

“Confidence is a plant of slow growth in an aged bosom: youth is the season of credulity.” – William Pitt

“Nothing is predestined: The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.” – Ralph Blum

..And you’d be correct! I’m currently viewing the Olympic Closing Ceremony. Yet another few hours of me feeling like there is nothing but good in this world! I’m only a tad optimistic. : )

Check this out – there was an article featuring the recent “ruins” of the Athens Olympic arenas. Seen here. It’s pretty wild to think that these places are so deserted and neglected knowing that they once were the place of great debuts, performances, and records.

Another great discovery I made via the Olympic Games was Phillip Phillips’ song “Home”. Have a listen!

The photo is of my view for the ceremony tonight. Finishing up cleaning the last corner of my room and studying, woohoo!

I am thankful for: unity.

Chocolate Chai Connection..

DAY 204

“You start from somewhere and very rarely do you start with magic.” – Tamara Lackey

“You get the best out of others when you give the best of yourself.” – Harvey S. Firestone

“Praise is like sunlight to the human spirit: we cannot flower and grow without it.” – Jess Lair

Sleeping to the tune of thunderstorms.

Waking up at my body’s request (in other words – NO alarm clocks welcome today!).

And kicking my day of with chocolate chai (that is, chocolate soy milk + Tazo chai).

My Sunday has been pretty great!

I’ve also been able to tune in to Tamara Lackey‘s final day of her “Sales, Sales, Sales.” workshop on CreativeLIVE. I adore this woman. She is a photography [& life] genius! I kid you not. And CreativeLIVE is such an amazing forum for photographers who might be figuring out how to better themselves in their profession.

I am thankful for: chocolate chai lattes.

Snip, Snipping Away..

DAY 201

Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.
Pablo Picasso

“Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want.” – Jim Rohn

“Pursue meaningful adventures.” – Chris Guillebeau

World, I am now thoroughly convinced I could use an iPhone. For serious. I am in love with the new apps I’ve purchased and been using (Evernote & 30/30) & would kill for the portability of the iPhone (versus my iPad). If there have been any take-away lessons from this week they are that: I need an empty drawer & other spaces for possibility, and I would love an iPhone!

I finally took the big leap! I purchased my first CreativeLive course! Tamara Lackey’s Work.Life.Balance. workshop from yesterday! I was only able to catch a tiny snipit of what was filmed & have found every ounce of useful tips I was able to scurry away with priceless. Truly. I used the applications on the iPad that she suggested, have researched the sites she said she made use of, & even purged 4 drawers of clothing at about 10:30pm. Suuper excited about it!

In class tonight (You know, the place I’ve been physically showing up at to learn. Places other than social media and creative live.), we began learning about pregnancy massage. Yet another thing I’m totally looking forward to!

I feel like I’m finally realizing just how much I love the Dr. Seuss book Oh, The Places You’ll Go. I cannot tell you what it means to me. I really think I’m going to be buying a copy of it for myself soon. Such an inspirational and fun piece to help bring you back to you. Realize that you are enough. Help you follow your dreams. And let you know that some not-so-great things will happen along the way, but that is ok.

I am thankful for: social media & CreativeLive.

Maybe Means There’s A Chance..

DAY 200

“You must find the place inside yourself where nothing is impossible.” – Deepak Chopra

today’s challenge: find the ease. whether the day is simple, or trying, find the ease and watch your world open up! – Tara Stiles

My total obsession today (once I was home) was the creative live course hosted by Tamara Lackey. This woman is a genius! I kid you not. I only watched like 20 minutes total of the course and I already have 3 new apps and know how to better use at least 3 of them!

A couple of my new favs:

Evernote – manages like everything!

30/30 – manages your time spent on tasks

Also, I learned I need more open spaces in my physical living space as it promotes the “possibilities” in my life! Crazy cool concept, right?!

Before I launched (and nearly lost myself, in a good way) in Tamara’s workshop, I spent the day with J&R. We ventured out to the library & the Museum of Life & Science! At least for a few hours before it started thundering. We had a blast! I think they especially enjoyed the mist area of Catch the Wind.

I am thankful for: mist areas and fountains on hot days!

B.

Tales of the Panda & the Squirrel..

DAY 197

“Self-esteem is the immune system of the mind and of the spirit.” – Lee Pulos

“The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire not things we fear.” – Brian Tracy

I’ve seen yellow finches, tadpoles, a squirrel, panda, & Hello Kitty today! Ok, so I really only saw washable tattoos of the last three, but they still count for something, right? ‘Twas a morning of great fun. There was lots more reading to be done. Games to be played. Crafts to be made. And popcorn to be popped! We enjoyed the sunrise on the porch followed by reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Kids are awesome – it’s like if Christmas could be every day, that would so be made a law.

I am thankful for: little animals. And people who are so super nice and let you borrow Downton Abbey.

B.

To Snack..

DAY 167

..That is the meaning of “nosh”. I discovered this while waiting for lunch today at Nosh. I love that place!! Mom & I stopped here on the way home from running a couple errands. One of which was mattress testing. Probably one of the more awkward moments of my life! Here’s the scene – me (bouncing and tossing on the mattresses), my mom (sitting nearby), & the random sales associate (bearing witness to it all). Let’s go back to Nosh [!] – I had the portobello mushroom burger with sweet potato fries. Yum! I love that  dish.

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. It involved napping! My day didn’t go as planned, but it was still great! The night wrapped with a viewing of Rock of Ages. Jury’s still out on my review. Don’t think it’s a favorite, but it was fun to see once. What did happen was that I actually liked all the previews shown – that never happens! [Anyone else in the same boat?]

Won’t Back Down is based on a true story and seems to be a feel-good movie with lots of spirit! Here’s the preview..

Won’t Back Down

The Odd Life of Timothy Green was another trailer shown. It’s about a couple having difficulty having a child. They miraculously end up with their dream boy. I’ll let the preview show the rest!

The Odd Life of Timothy Green

Pitch Perfect was also in the mix. All about a rival between a cappella groups.

Pitch Perfect

The Great Gatsby was by far my favorite trailer! I’ve mentioned it previously on the blog, but here’s the trailer again – Enjoy!

The Great Gatsby

In case anyone else missed the live viewing of Nik Wallenda’s successful attempt to cross over Niagara Falls on a tightrope, here is a link to a time lapsed video. He’s the first person to ever do so!

I am thankful for: the gift of movies.

Points Of Color..

DAY 146

“Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”
– Albert Einstein

“Where the willingness is great, the difficulties cannot be great.”
– Machiavelli

“Until you make peace with who you are, you’ll never be content with what you have.”
– Doris Mortman

Hilarious ETrade commercial I just saw.. Love these talking babies!

The better part of my day was spent shopping. Mom and I went to Southpoint this morning. Shopped a bit and had lunch. When we were leaving, we saw this awesome old car! I was in the passenger’s seat & thus able to get a picture of it!

I went off on my own for the afternoon making a stop at DSW and Kohl’s. I ran into my former German teacher – so good to catch up with her!

There was just enough sunlight still beaming into the yard to get a few good pictures of the flowers.

I am thankful for: sunshine & discounts.

PS: Found many more funny things worth sharing! Enjoy!

Bow And Arrow!

[Sun]derful..

DAY 95

Finished with finals for this quarter! Four classes, four A’s!!

Despite the two of us making for an ouchy, eww!, blah, and icky pair today, M and I had fun! We walked around outside, I freaked myself out with the little Jeep cars for kids (I never had one, so I think that was the problem), played with bubbles, read, did puzzles, colored. You name it pretty much, and it was done.

After my final, I picked up dinner from mom, used the back roads to avoid traffic on 40 & ended up at Lake Crabtree again : ), took some sunset pictures, headed off to Target. Then I came home and captured the moon! I was snapping from sunrise to sunset!

On an unrelated note – One Tree Hill just ended. Bittersweet. The ending was done very well, I think. 9 years. Crazy.

Also random – I did yoga last night! I’ve missed it. I am sore, but who cares? I feel great! And tonight, I painted my nails a new color. Finally! I always look forward to being able to polish my nails when classes are out. The color? A Crewed Interest. And finally..my dog, Jac, has recently become afraid of thunderstorms. Today when he started to whine, I had a thought – would a “friend” help? So I found an old smaller-than-Jac-size Teddy Bear and put it in his kennel. Reports confirm that this “friend” helped him and he didn’t whine anymore.

I am thankful for: time to run errands and exercise!

Lights & Oscars..

DAY 58

“If you ever wondered where your dreams come from, this is where they’re made.” Hugo (scene..standing on a film set)

Last night was the Oscars! I loved the show. 2011 was a great year for movies, and I don’t know how that group narrowed the contenders down  to determine the recipients. Bravo! The Artist won best picture (which I was happy about, but I was rooting for The Help). Hugo took home many awards as well! I was glad..many of last years movies had a consistent theme [for me] – believe in your dreams; believe in yourself. That meant a lot to me seeing as I returned to school to follow through with my passion to help people by way of massage therapy. Last year I also started this blog to help me sculpt and hone in on my photographic skill set.

Cirque du Soleil gone Oscars was unbelievable. I’ve always wanted to see a show and that piece only made that desire increase.

What a Wonderful World (which always makes me think of Toy Story) was sung during the “In Memorium” part of the night.

The picture for today is of a Tow Mater (from Cars) night light. Yep..I took a picture of a night light. During the day. Because it was that overcast. I still had a great day though! I edited the picture in Pixlromatic.

I am thankful for: pillows & blankets. And that Mad Men is returning in March!!

Goodnight, all!

Sunday Passersby..

DAY 57

Woke up early. Took Jac for a walk.
Stopped for pictures several times.
Got ready. Went to get a smoothie & ran into a friend I haven’t seen in a while.
On the drive home I saw a dad teaching his son to ride a bike and an older couple walking their dog.  [Very sweet.]
Came home & have been working on homework since.
Had a dinner date with mommy.
Continued with homework & will be viewing the Oscars shortly.
It’s been a great day!

The pictures..were all taken while on the walk. A few of them I took “blind” in the sense that I was holding the camera away from my face with the LCD screen off. They [shockingly] turned out much better than I expected..and on the first try.

I stumbled upon this photoblog, which was created in an effort to make the girls’ grandmother (who has non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma..this is the article) able to experience the girls’ lives and keep updated with what was going on. A great idea, if you ask me! The story was very touching & the blog is now – needless to say – bookmarked on my laptop.

I am thankful for: the fact that in an odd way, seeing others smiling, laughing, and enjoying moments makes me happy to be alive.
